Today I found this wandering around our living room:

This is what happens when you accidentally leave your balcony doors open when you go to the bathroom. . . You think I would have learned my lesson after the Kookaburras.

They’re so cute when they’re quiet. . .
There’s nothing more juicy to a network news producer than something funny happening on a rival network. And it turns out the recent occurrence on Channel 9 News in Melbourne was not only reported on other networks, but even their sister station in Perth got in on the action:
Birds are just awesome!

(I know this is kind of a lazy post, and there are more pictures that I could edit, but it’s my birthday, and I can’t be bothered.

Having been here for over three years now, we are still thrilled with the quality of life that Sydney brings us. Be it a casual walk around the neighbourhood making a pit stop at a local Italian restaurant to sit in the sun with some wine and good food (like we did on Saturday), going out for an early brunch then lying in the grass reading the paper in a local park (like we did on Sunday) … or heading a little further a field for a quick weekend away.
Which is exactly what we are doing this weekend with a little treat of a trip to the idyllic South Coast. Just a few hours south of Sydney, it’s part undisturbed wilderness, part secluded beaches with little country towns scattered between. Amanda has done some great research into the area and, if it’s anything like our trip to Port Douglas, we’re going to have a great time. We’re staying in a lovely boutique hotel close to the beach. There are nearby markets and plenty of opportunities for whale and dolphin watching.
I love seeing the world with Amanda, and this weekend is the perfect time to do it. I can’t wait!
Yesterday we showed you what the dust cloud looked like from our place. Well, here it is from another angle, courtesy of NASA.

We’re having dust storms today. Everything is orange!!
Our haul from this month’s Northside Produce Market:

*Watercress
*Asparagus
*Broccolini
*Brussels Sprouts
*Tomatoes
*French Shallots
*Pink Lady Apples
*Tangelos
*Pink Grapefruit
*Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey
*Creamed Honey
*Free Range Eggs
*Duck Breasts
*Black Angus Rib-eye Steaks (Scotch Fillet)
That’s all well and good, but WHERE WERE THE PASTRIES!?!
This week has been about trying to get back into our normal swing of things after our lovely two weeks away. We had a great time, but we do things a little differently when we’re in Chattanooga. Amanda is still constantly in the kitchen cooking lovely fresh meals, but it tends to be more home-style comfort food.
So upon our return on Sunday morning, after waiting in various airport lines (including the one to discuss our lost bag), we were home by 9am. After discussing our various food options, we decided to fill up on coffee for the morning (lovingly made by some random barista downstairs) and wait for something more substantial to open. So at noon we got some take out and plumped for filet mignon wrapped in pancetta, served with broccolini, crispy leek & porcini jus. Being home does have its advantages.

More leftovers from Port Douglas. . .
