Visions of Dancing Fairies

Scott is a calm, controlled usually frugal person.  He doesn’t mind spending money on nice things, but he definitely goes home and thinks it over first, rather than purchasing on the spot- except of course when it comes to food.  He’s much happier to shell out for a quality meal or ingredient than that Herringbone shirt or Armani Suit (he still buys those too, but he feels really guilty about it for weeks  :D   ).

His food splurging behavior is most easily observed at the fruit market.  Scott is quite the frugivore.  He eats fruit with breakfast, fruit for second breakfast, fruit for second lunch and fruit for second dinner.  It’s fruitastic.  So when he goes into the fruit market to restock, he just can’t help himself with exotic impulse purchases.  He comes home at least once a week with some new fruit discovery, grinning with excitement to show it off.  I remember on his maiden voyage to the States when he saw a pluot for the first time, and every trip still, it is with wonder and awe that he explores the cross-bred fruits of the local supermarket.  I’ve always loved his sense of wonder.  I remember noticing it the first night I met him.

So it is with great pride I show you his latest acquisition- Sugar Plums:

No, they’re not the candy of sugar plum fairy fame.  As far as I can tell, they’re a sort of re-branding of d’Agen plums, which are commonly dried into prunes (pruneaux d’Agen), and they’re only in season for 2-3 weeks a year at the end of summer, so those of you in the Northern Hemisphere can look out for them in about 6 months time.  ;)
