Not so much a party as a midday drinking sesh, and less of a pool, more of a pond. Let me explain. . .
You can tell when it’s a national holiday here, because people enjoy a drink. Give someone a day off from work on, say, Australia Day, and they will have a drink to celebrate. If there’s been a big game, a drink to follow is surely necessary.
For those who have a train to catch, an important part of the celebration is to pass through the Forum plaza, passing underneath our window. We know this because another part of the tradition is to sing a rousing chorus of … well … you can never tell. 10 storeys isn’t too far to carry a tune, it’s just that our friends can’t carry one.
And so it was with some surprise that we were serenaded this Saturday past. Before noon. Not only was there singing, but there was also a little tom foolery. Intrigued, and wondering why security weren’t coming to put a stop to such nonsense, we peered out to the scene below.

That’s right. You see exactly what you think you do.
Along with being a decorative and stylish addition to our chic neighbourhood, this water feature is also used as a giant bird bath. Yes, those inebriated fellows are in fact paddling in dirty pigeon water!
