Today we spent an enjoyable day at the Edinburgh Zoo. We pass it all the time on the bus or in taxis, and it looks so small. Who knew it was absolutely massive. . . and set into the hills? The lion cubs in particular were quite a hike to reach but well worth the work.
Ben is such a good baby: an entire day out in the crowded chaos, no nap, and a smile on his face the entire time! If I could steal a baby. . . well, I wouldn’t want to, but if I had to. . .you know.
For both the kids, nothing was a bigger hit than the monkeys. I myself prefer the subtlety and sophistication of the lemurs. As excited as Scott was for the penguins, I was for the ring-tailed lemurs. I have had a thing for lemurs ever since I saw Zoboomafoo, a wildlife show for preschoolers. Zoboo was a Verreaux’s Sifaka lemur puppet. Okay, I wasn’t a preschooler when I used to watch it. Actually I was already at Uni, but it was really cute.
All in all a really nice, exhausting day. . .some gifts were exchanged, and my recipe for Toffee Apple Cheesecake now resides in Denny.
So back to reality. Scott’s off to finish tidying the office tomorrow. Some people may be dropping by in the evening. I think I will make a start on packing the cases as well as getting all the leftover treasure out for people to peruse. Someone will inherit the rest of my truffle oil, our peach vodka, all the important things. . .
And since there’s nothing on the tele, on our last night with the it (enjoy Gavin- don’t think it will be making your trip to Tellico Plains) we might actually get some sleep soon. Sweet dreams. . .sleep tight. . .don’t let the bed bugs bite.

If the bed bugs do get you both now that you no longer have the protection of the Fort, remember the diamond of a tip you have already imparted on blog land….calamine lotion!!!
